What interior painting covers

We paint just about everything inside a house that takes paint:

  • Walls, from one bedroom to the whole house
  • Ceilings, including popcorn ceiling removal if you want it gone
  • Trim: baseboards, door and window casing, crown molding, chair rail
  • Doors, both sides and the jamb, plus closet interiors and shelving
  • Accent walls and built-ins like bookcases and window seats

If a wall needs work before it can be painted, we handle that too. Holes, cracks, nail pops and water stains are part of our drywall repair work, and they get fixed before any paint goes on. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are their own job with their own process; see cabinet painting.

Who it’s for

Most of our interior work is for people who live in the house and want it to look right again: scuffed hallways, kids’ rooms that need to grow up, a living room that’s been the same color for fifteen years. We also paint for people getting a house ready to sell, landlords turning over a rental, and new owners who want it done before the furniture comes in.

We work across the Upstate, from Greenville and Spartanburg to Boiling Springs, Greer and our home base in Duncan.

How we do it

The paint is the easy part. The prep is what makes a room look sharp for years instead of months.

  1. Walk the room with you. We look at the walls, trim and ceiling, talk through colors (a free color consult comes with every estimate) and write up a price.
  2. Protect the room. Furniture goes to the middle and gets covered. Floors get drop cloths. Outlet covers and switch plates come off.
  3. Fix the surface. We fill nail holes and dings, repair any drywall damage, sand rough spots and scrape loose paint.
  4. Caulk and prime. Gaps where trim meets the wall get caulked. Patches and stains get spot primed so they don’t show through.
  5. Cut in by hand, then roll. Clean lines at the ceiling, corners and trim, then the walls are rolled out evenly. A big color change gets an extra coat so it covers right.
  6. Trim and doors last. Baseboards, casing and doors get their finish after the walls are done.
  7. Walk it again with you. Covers go back on, furniture goes back, and we look over the room together before we call it done.

Which paint level fits

We use Sherwin-Williams paint at three levels. You don’t have to pick one for the whole house.

  • Essential (SuperPaint). Solid, good-looking paint for rooms that don’t take a beating. A good fit for guest rooms, ceilings, rentals, and getting a house ready to sell.
  • Performance (Duration Home). Our most common pick. It holds up to scrubbing and scuffs, so it’s the one for hallways, kids’ rooms and living areas.
  • Showcase (Emerald). Top of the line. The smoothest finish, the best coverage and color depth, and the longest life. Worth it in the rooms you look at most.

Sheen matters as much as the paint. Our guide to choosing paint sheen room by room walks through what goes where.

What affects the price

Walls are measured by the square foot of wall, and the paint level you pick changes the price. Here’s what else moves it:

  • What you’re painting. Ceilings, baseboard and casing, crown, doors, closet interiors and accent walls are each priced on their own.
  • Big color changes. Going from light to dark or dark to light takes an extra coat.
  • The room itself. Bathrooms take more time on the walls because of the tight cutting around fixtures. Vaulted and two-story rooms take more too.
  • Repairs and removal. Drywall repair, popcorn ceiling removal and wallpaper removal are priced on their own.

FAQ

Interior painting: common questions

Something else on your mind? Call or text 864-800-8275.

How do you price painting a room?

We measure the walls, plus the ceiling and trim if they're getting painted, look at the prep the room needs, and you pick the paint level. The estimate is free, and you get a written price before we start. See how we price.

How is interior painting measured?

Walls are measured by the square foot of wall, not floor, and the paint level changes the price. Ceilings are measured by the floor area, and trim by the linear foot. You can read more on how we price.

What goes into the price of painting a living room?

The size of the walls, the ceiling height and the paint level you pick. Ceilings, crown, trim and a bold color change add to that. We give you an exact price in writing after we see the room.

What paint do you use?

Sherwin-Williams on every job. You pick from three levels: SuperPaint, Duration Home or Emerald. We'll tell you which one makes sense for each room, and you can mix levels in the same house.

Do I need to move my furniture before you paint?

No. Clear off shelves, walls and anything breakable, and we'll move what we can to the middle of the room and cover it. If there's a piano, a full china cabinet or anything you'd rather we not touch, tell us at the estimate.

Do you fix holes and cracks before painting?

Yes. Small holes and nail pops get filled as part of normal prep. Bigger holes, cracks and water stains are priced as drywall repair so you can see what the repair costs on its own.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. Every job comes with our 12-month workmanship warranty on our labor. If something we did isn't holding up, call or text 864-800-8275 and we'll come back and make it right.

Do you offer financing for interior painting?

Financing is available through Wisetack, and Klarna is an option when you pay your invoice. You can read how it works on our financing page.
