Inman sits where SC 292 and US 176 meet, with I-26 just outside town. SC 292 starts in Duncan, where we are based, and runs through Lyman straight into Inman, so getting here is a short drive. The town was once known for peaches, and Inman Mills, which opened in 1902 and ran until 2001, was a major employer for most of that century. Today the housing covers more than a century, and each age needs something different from a painter.
Mill houses near Inman Mills
The old mill complex has been turned into apartments, the Lofts at Inman Mills. The houses around it are where the real painting questions come up. Some of the mill village homes date to around 1900. A house that old has usually been painted many times, sometimes by many different owners, and the layers do not always agree with each other.
What that means for an exterior:
- Loose and peeling paint has to come off first. We scrape, sand the edges smooth, and spot prime bare wood.
- Gaps at trim and siding get caulked so water stays out.
- Then two finish coats. On wood that moves with the seasons, a better paint level pays for itself.
Inside, older rooms often have cracks at ceilings and corners and a few generations of patches. We fix those as part of the job with drywall repair, and we tell you up front what is a patch and what needs more.
Around Lake Bowen and Woodfin Ridge
Up toward Lake Bowen, homes line Highway 9 and the roads off it. Woodfin Ridge is a golf community here with everything from villas to large custom homes, built from the early 2000s on. Bigger homes like these often have a lot of trim, tall entries and open rooms with high walls. That is where careful cutting-in and a steady ladder matter most.
If your neighborhood has an HOA, plan on getting exterior colors approved first. We help you choose colors at the estimate and hand you the product details for the form.
New builds near I-26 and Highway 9
Newer neighborhoods keep going in around Inman, like Walnut Ridge off Highway 9 and Zane’s Creek. A new house usually needs one of three things in its first few years:
- A real wall paint in place of the builder’s flat, especially in halls and kids’ rooms.
- Color. Many new houses come with one neutral throughout. A free color consult comes with every estimate.
- Cabinets. If the kitchen came in a color you didn’t pick, cabinet painting is a lot less than replacing them. We take the doors and drawer fronts off, label them, and spray them with Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series Waterborne Topcoat.
Pricing
Cabinet painting depends mostly on how many doors, drawer fronts and end panels the kitchen has. Rooms depend on how much wall there is and which of our three paint levels you pick. How we price explains the rest, and every estimate is free. Our work carries a 12-month workmanship warranty.
We also cover Boiling Springs and Lyman, the next towns over.
